Goa and beyond...

....ten days have passed since my 'Goa' sojourn....

I had the most awesome time in Goa! i really did :) ....going to the beach....almost getting washed away!! ....eating delicious food every meal.....goan pao....candlelight dinner at a shack *grin* hehe....and the conference wasn't bad either! lol

....I'm in a 'goa state of mind'....going with the flow....seeing where the wind carries me....

The Yatra itself had some pretty amazing speakers - the one that stood out for me was on the third day....about film titling - a gentleman from 'Prologue Films' in the US (definately look them up) - they've done the titles for
'7even'....and a lot of other really cool films...i remember seven cuz it was probably the only movie out've that whole lot that i'd seen :) ...for a movie buff, i sure as hell miss out on a ton of good movies!

Anyways...there was that...then the Yatra was kick started by Wally Ollins - who is such a dude...such cool composure and confidence in talking about his work....it definitely was bordering on arrogance - and he did manage to piss a few senior people off....but then he was like the Amitabh Bachchan of branding - so not many people wanted to pick a fight with him...

Then there was the 'interview' between Stefan Sagmeister and Neville Brody. Here were two personalities in such stark contrast of each other - one very chilled out and approachable....the other - just the typical 'rockstar' attitude that you'd find from a 'god of graphic design' - that has to be said. I mean last year AND this year, a whole bunch of speakers attributed their thinking and work to be influenced or inspired (to whatever degree) by the work of Neville Brody. And that's such a kick....actually it goes far beyond being a 'kick'....i mean - people worship and truly admire the genius of this man. And i think as is the case with all geniuses - he also comes across a little arrogant...maybe even not a very nice person....but all this is from observing and listening from a distance. Would be unfair to base my opinion on just that....let's see how it is when i'm having lunch with him someday.

...then there were the interrrmmminnnnaabbbllyyyy lawngggggg breaks between speakers and lunch break and coffee break and this break and that break....last year was a little 'tighter' in that sense; but then, with due credit to the organizers, apparently they'd been told that, "there aren't enough breaks!!!" I'm sure they'll strike a better balance next year....lets hope so.

The best part of this goa trip was the chilling in goa. I so needed that. ....i wish i could carry this 'goa frame of mind' with me - all the time!! Infact - i think i'll write a little about that...but in the next post...

Right now i'm enjoying the cool bangalore breeze....it's been pouring like crazy....
